The Defender offers three very capable true-work powerplant options. The 82-hp Rotax HD10 V-Twin is specifically tuned for serious work but also offers industry leading 69 lb-ft torque and peak torque at lower RPM for optimal delivery for recreational use. The work-focused Rotax HD8 V-Twin delivers 50 hp and 50 lb-ft torque for tough tasks. To simply get the job done, meet your new yardstick; the new Defender HD5 single cylinder Rotax engine delivering 38-hp. The Defender is now the sharpest tool in the shed.
Most rigid Can-Am frame
The Defender MAX DPS can pull at the top of their class with a 2,500-lbs (1,134 kg) towing capacity and 1,750 lb (793,8 kg) payload assuring to complete the most difficult tasks with ease.
Dynamic Power Steering (DPS)
Dynamic Power Steering (DPS) is tuned for utility while returning renowned Can-Am responsiveness for recreational riding. DPS improves steering feel in slow-speed working situations and in more technical terrain. It's also designed to offer less assistance at high speeds and more assistance at low speeds.
Durable PRO-TORQ CVT transmission and selectable 4WD
Get in & get working: the PRO-TORQ transmission with Quick Response System (QRS), revised ventilation and electronic belt protection ensure long-lived performance. Selectable Turf Mode / 2WD / 4WD with Visco-Lok† QE auto-locking front differential allows you put the power down on any terrain. Traditional P / R / N / H / Extra-Low* shift pattern for ease of use.
Heavy-duty suspension
The spec sheet is one thing: reality is another. That's why the Defender HD10 has a revised suspension with front arched double A-Arms and rear arched TTA with sway bar that handles & hauls at higher grounds with confidence—no matter the load.
Advanced VERSA-PRO bench seats
Inspired by modern trucks, the dual VERSA-PRO bench seat is engineered as a practical 40/20/40 bench that can comfortably accommodate six adults with features like profiled corners to improve entrance/exit of the cab as well as a sturdy vinyl cover for improved wear resistance. The five passenger seats have integrated hooks on their undersides and can also be flipped up to improve onboard storage. Can-Am designers also added front and rear foldable armrests with cup holders—you're welcome.
Open dash with removable toolbox and under-dash storage
The Defender has a total of up to 16.2 US gal (61.3 L)—including a handy, removable and water-resistant 1.7 gal (6.3 L) toolbox, an industry exclusive—to carry tools and supplies directly where they're needed. In addition, we included 6 gal (23 L) of under-dash storage with an enclosed pocket, under-seat storage, and enclosed storage above the gauges.
Multifunction cargo box with sturdy tailgate
Can-Am is rightfully proud of the Defender's highly durable dump cargo box with a stout 1,000 lb (454kg) load capacity. Strategic features include 5-gal (18.9 L) pail recesses, integrated anchors on the sidewalls, and several tie-down points for added convenience. Integrated recesses allow you to use the space as needed, allowing for both 1x3 and plywood separators and bed extenders to extend the bed’s overall dimensions. The tailgate is even capable of withstanding ordinary farm use and serving as a seat on breaks (max weight: 250 lb / 113kg)
